Colin King is a stylist and artistic director for the world’s leading brands and publications, often credited with defining the style of modern American design. With the founding of Colin King Studio, his successful foray into interior styling, and now product design and exhibition design, speaks to a broader awareness that he brings to his practice—a dancer’s understanding of the power in stillness.

After studying dance in New York City, King transitioned his creative background to the realm of interiors, working with several design firms overseeing content creation and art direction. He found himself curious to understand, then execute and capture, the intensity and nuances in arranging objects. This experience broadened his mastery of visual storytelling, making an unspoken promise to the forgotten corners of the home, and transforming them into moments worthy of attention.
In March of 2023, King released Arranging Things (Rizzoli), a book sharing his intuitive and deeply personal process of elevating spaces through a series of anecdotes and visual essays written with Sam Cochran and foreword by Robin Standefer of Roman & Williams. King is a regular contributing stylist to publications including Architectural Digest, T Magazine, ELLE DECOR, and Ark Journal among many others. King additionally has his own celebrated product lines with the Morocco-based Beni Rugs – where he serves as Artistic Director-at-Large – and the Scandinavian design shop Audo (formerly MENU), with whom he showcased an immersive installation for 3 Days of Design in Copenhagen in 2023.
This summer, King led the design for the most recent installment of Object & Thing at LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton, where he is also currently working on the interiors for a private residential project. In September of 2023, King unveiled his first collection with West Elm, with more home collaborations in the works with leading industry brands and creatives. King continues to expand his studio practice to include creative direction, product development and installation design, imparting his signature aesthetic across the industry.
