Luca Nichetto was born in 1976 and grew up on the storied island of Murano, the centuries-old center of Venetian glass. There, creativity and master artisans, including his grandfather, a master glassmaker, surrounded him. Later, Nichetto studied at Istituto Statale d’Arte di Venezia and earned a degree in industrial design at the Università Luav di Venezia in 1998, leading to formative early projects with venerable Murano glassmaker Salviati and leading lighting company Foscarini.
Luca Nichetto’s eponymous studio was founded in 2006 with a focus on industrial design and consulting. In 2011 he relocated to Stockholm, Sweden, opening a second studio and extending his scope to interior design, architecture and brand collaborations (partners have included Nendo, Foscarini and Hem.)
Among the accolades given to the young designer is the Interior Innovation Award in 2013. The same year, imm cologne, Germany’s largest design dair, invited Nichetto to create the “Das Haus” exhibit, a thought-provoking house of the Luca Nichetto future, which synthesized his strengths in architecture, interiors and outdoor.
Due to its diverse, cross-cultural appeal and high level of craftsmanship, Luca Nichetto design has resonated widely. His pieces have been exhibited in prominent shows worldwide, including Venice, London, Paris, and Stockholm. Nichetto’s first commercial architectural commission was 2013’s Tales Pavilion, a 5380 square foot furniture and design showroom center in the Lido Garden, Beijing. It was completed in 2013.
