Designer Ben Barber has been exploring the highly industrial process of metal spinning throughout his career. The resulting forms have become a signature within his work. The Spun chair is a direct result of this process. Two stainless steel hemispheres are welded together then left raw, showcasing motion and tooling. A seating area is carved out and outfitted with a contrasting mirror polished seat pan. The mirrored steel adds depth, giving an illusion of fluidity. The Spun chair is equally functional as it is sculptural.
